According to the CDC 72,000 Americans died from overdoses in 2017, that equates to more people dying from overdoses than guns or car accidents last year. When it comes to substance abuse, the compulsion to use may lead those struggling with addiction to do just about anything to get their hands on more drugs, including stealing.

BurgerBusters Inc. has seen an increase in the number of drug related incidents on our properties over the last year. Some of these are customer incidents and some are employees. We would like to remind all employees of BurgerBusters Inc. of the Drug Free Work Place Policy.

BurgerBusters Inc. has an obligation to its employees, customers, and the public at large to reasonably ensure safety in our workplace, as well as safety and quality in our products. Consequently, the following are strictly prohibited and will result in immediate disciplinary action including discharge:

Þ Reporting to work under the influence of intoxicating liquor or illegal drugs.

Þ The use, possession, manufacture, purchase, or transfer by an employee on company premises or property (including storage in a desk, locker, car, etc.), or during work time, of an intoxicating liquor, controlled or illegal substance, a drug not medically authorized, or any other substances which impair job performance or pose a hazard to the safety and welfare of the employee, the public, or other employees or the sale of such item.

If you or a loved one suffers from drug or alcohol addiction, there is help available. Below are just a few of the many   organizations that are dedicated to getting people the help they need:

  • Addicted.org can help you find abuse treatment options and organizations that provide affordable and / or free treatment services. (800) 304-2219
  • FreeRehabCenters.org offers help with free and affordable rehab centers across the country. (800) 774- 5796

The company works very hard to ensure all funds processed are properly accounted for, deposited correctly, and then   utilized to grow the organization. When funds are misused or stolen all of us are impacted. The potential less development funds and time spent tied up chasing the cash compared to growing the business slows us down from being a more productive company.

BurgerBusters Inc. realizes that it is difficult to make ends meet, pay the bills, and take care of all needs in the fast paced world we all live in. Far too often one of our employees makes a poor decision and takes funds that simply do not belong to them, they steal. What would happen if that same employee would reach out for help whether it is internally seeking proper guidance on banks, loans, extra work in other stores all designed to prevent un-welcome actions. The company would like each employee to reach out instead of making the wrong decision. We cannot promise nor commit that we can meet all needs, but we certainly can point you in the right direction.

When you make the wrong decision, the following actions will take place. You will be investigated and if found to be taking cash or product that does not belong to you, your employment will be terminated and the theft reported to the police. Frequently the police are called to Taco Bell and the person is arrested right away.

If you know of someone taking things in the store that do not belong to that person, please report it on the Network line. You can report this anonymously or leave your name and number and someone from Asset Protection will contact you.  If you are thinking about stealing understand stealing will only complicate and increase your financial problems.
