BurgerBusters enters the New Year different than it has ever looked before, which comes with great benefits, but still with new challenges facing our business as well. After the sale of about half of the restaurant operations, the company now has a more compact look with many advantages that come with it. Facilities and Loss Control will be able to able to focus more acutely on not just evaluating and remediating new problems, but also be able to spend more time researching trends and problem areas to proactively solve problems, sometimes even before they even become one!
Our biggest challenge in Facilities are Covid-related issues that grew exponentially on the back end of 2021, but will stay with us well through 2022 and possibly beyond. Supply chain is our biggest concern. Parts for existing equipment or all new equipment that used to take days to weeks to get in are now taking weeks to months to arrive. Furthermore, those lead times are so volatile that ordering an item one day may have a different lead time tomorrow. This has caused many work orders to go on longer than expected, but we have been able to help expedite some by going through other parts websites through RSCS or with vendors outside our area as supply houses have different availabilities with different manufacturers.
See below several items the Facilities and Loss Control Department has put together that will help you focus on the items we feel are most important. These are a combination of best practices and tips, but are also common processes that always need to be done correctly that we want to highlight for you.
Facilities
- Be Descriptive when creating a new work order in Corrigo so the vendor can come prepared.
- Create Work Orders for the correct Asset. When you have roof leak, it is important to pick Roof and not Ceiling. Ceiling tile are not the cause of leaks! Faulty roofs, HVAC, pipes, and window seals cause leaks. Picking the wrong Asset will send a work order to the wrong vendor and prolong the fix.
- When Emergency Work Orders occur after hours or on the weekends, the Manager must follow up with a phone call to the vendor and their District Manager. Not all vendors monitor emails after hours or have answering services.
- If a Work Order has been marked complete by the vendor, but the Asset still does not operate correctly, please verify the work as “Not Completed.” Do NOT mark it “Complete: Negative”.
- When you have a piece of equipment that is covered under warranty that needs repair, please provide the serial and model number in the Work Order, providing a picture of the tag is best.
POS
- Do no unplug any POS or technology without speaking to POS first.
- If more than 2 registers are down this is a Code Red, and POS needs to be called immediately.
- If SOS Taco says your network is down, call POS.
Loss Control
- A Manager should be notified of every accident, no matter the severity, and call Medcor at 1-800-775-5866. In the event of an emergency, call 911 immediately then Medcor.
- Medcor will connect you with a certified triage nurse to take a statement and assess your injury. Please be as detailed as possible and follow all self-care instructions.
- All medically treated employees must take a Chain of Custody form with them for a drug test.
- Every employee returns with a doctor’s note and all work restrictions can be accommodated.
