FILING FOR LOA / FMLA
When an employee needs to take a personal leave of absence or FMLA, the below steps MUST be followed:
- Employee: Needs to contact Lincoln Absence Management at 1-800-423-2765.
- RGM/DM: Status Change form needs to be entered into Greenshades to put the employee out on leave. Be sure that the status change form includes last day worked, estimated return to work date and using vacation while out on leave.
- Vacation/PTO Time: If the employee has any available vacation or PTO time, the available time must be used first before taking an unpaid leave of absence or FMLA.
- Employee: When employee is ready to return to work, the employee needs to let Lincoln Absence Management know that they are ready to return to work, cleared to return to work and send any return to work release notes / work restriction notes to Lincoln.
- RGM/DM: Another Status Change form needs to be submitted in Greenshades to bring the employee back to active work status.
If the above steps are not followed, the employee needing to take FMLA or LOA leave could face accidental termination for missing consecutive paychecks.

MINOR EMPLOYEES – 14 7 15 YEARS OLD
Although the minimum age of requirement to work in the United States is 14 years old, BurgerBusters Inc. has chosen not to do so due to the strict employment laws hiring individuals under the age of 16. BurgerBusters ran a test trial a few years ago hiring 14 & 15 years old at several locations and too many violations were being committed. According to Virginia labor laws, there is a $1,000 fine for every violation. Some examples includes:
- Working more than 3 hours per day on a school day.
- Working before 7am and after 7pm on a school day.
- Working more than 18 hours a week during a school week.
Unfortunately, TalentReef is not able to eliminate any applicants under the age of 16, therefore it is imperative for hiring managers to inquire about the applicant’s age before scheduling an interview.
