Each day, I come into our Corporate office in Virginia Beach and I look around and see members of our Human Resource Department, Accounting Department, and Facilities Department. I sit at my desk and see communications from District Managers, Asset Protection, Development, and many more. I see all these different areas of our company represented, coming together and I cannot help but think about how blessed we are to have so many dedicated employees, working hard so that BurgerBusters can be successful. We are on our way to having another record-setting year with the company on pace to break the $200,000,000 sales barrier for the first time, an incredible achievement that I would never have imagined just a few years ago. Each Department has contributed to these results.
A key component to this success has been our ability to develop new restaurants at a lightning pace. From the time of the last newsletter, BurgerBusters has developed and opened four new Taco Bell restaurants (Unit No. 36283 Hampton, VA; Unit No. 36330 Colonial Heights, VA; Unit No. 33184 Greensboro, NC; and Unit No. 36339 Fredericksburg, VA) and fully-remodeled one existing restaurant (Unit No. 15572 Williamsburg, VA). Several minor projects were completed as well with one mini remodel (Unit No. 15359 Virginia Beach, VA), a dining room expansion (Unit No. 33522 Fredericksburg, VA) and two cooler/freezer projects (Unit No. 5288 Harrisonburg, VA and Unit No. 2066 Burlington, NC). Currently, BurgerBusters has three new restaurants under construction (Front Royal, VA; Edenton, NC; and Dublin, VA which is a freestanding offset of an existing power pumper location) along with one major remodel (Unit No. 4796 Galax, VA). In the near future, we will have two scrape and rebuild projects under construction (Unit No. 5241 Winston-Salem, NC and Unit No. 15737 Winston-Salem, NC), a midterm remodel (Unit No. 34832 Salem, VA) and several special projects, including a number of cooler/freezer, dumpster corral, and digital menu board projects. We also have a robust new store pipeline that I will share with you in the near future.
Of course, none of this impressive development would be possible without having so many great dedicated employees at each restaurant along with our committed support staff outside of the stores. Your adherence to this company’s lofty standards and aspirations has a direct impact in a multitude of ways. For one, our franchisors will only grant us permission to develop if we meet certain operational criteria which you continue to meet and exceed. Second, your strong performances operating our stores increase sales and, as a result, increase the capital that the company is able to reinvest into new and current stores. Third, as you lead by example in each restaurant, you continue to develop future leaders for the company, enabling us to staff and promote these new locations. Without all these factors, it would be impossible for BurgerBusters to expand and grow. I thank you all for a job well done.
That being said, it is important to never be complacent. We must all maintain our diligent efforts to ensure continued success for the brand, our customers, our employees, our families, and our company. Always remain focused on safety, facility appearance, cleanliness, food quality, speed of service, and hospitality. These are the pillars that drive our business. Also, continue to focus and refocus on all standards and procedures. They act as protections that enable us to maintain a safe and friendly work environment, while providing an ideal dining experience for our guests.
This diligence is reflected in the commitment to excellence shown by the members of the BurgerBusters Senior Team: COO Joe Mangano, CFO Greg Rowland, and Director of Human Resources Kirk Jester. These men put in the hours to ensure that every member of this company is given the opportunity to be successful and productive and, by extension, push BurgerBusters forward. I am grateful for their efforts in helping make BurgerBusters the innovative and industry-leading organization it is today. If we all can match their zeal to close out the year, the sky is the limit for BurgerBusters.
