As we begin a New Year, I would like to give a quick summary of our staffing and turnover performance for 2017. Let’s start with the good news, BurgerBusters Inc. continued the promoting from within tradition by promoting a record 264 Managers. I would like to recognize and congratulate the following internally promoted Above Store Leaders:
- District Manager – Deborah Watts
- District Manager – Michelle Spencer
- District Manager – Lucinda Sistrunk
- District Manager – Jessica Sly (Promoted in P2, 2018)
- District Manager – Brenda Cronk (Promoted in P2, 2018)
- Vice President of Operations – Jeanette Jones
We externally hired 224 Managers, the highest number in our company’s history. I would like to recognize and congratulate the following externally hired Above Store Leaders:
- Field Trainer – DeeDee Sides
- Field Trainer – Brenda Priest
- District Manager – Rachelle Sidone
- District Manager – Timothy Supples
We gave 33 employees an opportunity to get their GED certificates. Kymberlee Burgess from Unit No. 16286 Front Royal, VA was our third graduate from the GED program. Great job Kymberlee!
Two of our employees were awarded $5,000 Live Mas Scholarships. Congratulations to India Johnson from Unit No. 15854 Glen Allen, VA and Austin Maiden from Unit No. 33522 Fredericksburg, VA.
Now the bad news; turnover, turnover, and more turnover. Shift Manager turnover increased from 54% to 61%. Team Member turnover increased from 123% to 145%. Last year 5,147 Team Members left our company. Only 19 out of 94 locations that were opened at least one year, had Team Member turnover below our goal of 130%. I would like to recognize the following locations for meeting their Team Member turnover goals: Unit No. 1764, 1899, 3850, 3921, 3940, 4725, 4794, 15359, 15627, 16062, 16286, 16757, 18734, 19520, 20073, 21222, 30298, 30374 and 31547. I would encourage any General Manager that had turnover above 130% to ask any of these 19 General Managers what they are doing to retain their teams. Considering our 2018 Period 1 Team Member turnover rate was 218%, I expect 2018 to be another challenging year for staffing and retention.
