Hello from the POS world. As always, I would like to being with thanking you all for your hard work in your stores as well as doing your part in contacting the POS department when you are having technology problems in your stores. I would also like to thank my fellow technicians, Amber and Thaddeus, for all of their hard work. As usual, the department is staying busy with special projects, remodels, new builds, and other behind the scenes upgrades that you do not always see.
I wanted to share some of the big things we are doing that you will be seeing in the near future. We still have a number of stores that are getting their BOH PC’s replaced, but due to major delays from the manufacture, we are still waiting on parts. If your Taco PC goes down and they say it is not under warranty anymore please contact me, Charlie Blair, at (804) 980-5258 right away.
At all remodels you were already getting the new PAR 8300 registers, but now we have been approved to get NGK (Next Gen Kitchen) installed as well. This is the new touch screen monitors that will be taking the place of the current QSR KDS system you have. They are essentially tablets that will be installed at face level and when you are done with the order you will swipe the order off the screen. Please start familiarizing yourselves with this system by watching the videos on My Taco Bell.
The POS Department has a special night project we are doing this year. We are going to all stores and relocating wires in the drive-thru areas. This means a hole will be getting drilled in the drive-thru counter tops that will help keep the wires in the drive-thru contained so they will stay out of your way. We are also going around cleaning up the wires in the offices at the same time. Please be patient with us as we are trying to get to everyone as fast as possible. Just as a reminder, if you call SOS Taco and they tell you to start unplugging a bunch of wires, whether they be network wires or power wires, please stop and call the POS Technician for your area. We have been getting a number of calls saying a store is down because SOS Taco does not understand how the store is set up and just says equipment is bad when the real issue is that a cable is unplugged.
The last thing I want to remind everyone of is please make sure you are calling your local POS Technician when you are having credit card problems. Whether it needs to be reset or it is getting replaced, please contact us. If it is needing to be reset on a regular basis it is likely it will start to miss credit sales, not to mention it will affect your speed of service. All replacement credit card machines must be installed by the POS Department to ensure we know they are working and installed correctly. Also, this is important because we make sure they are sent back to Verifone properly so we can avoid any additional fees your store will accrue. Thank you again and we at the POS Department appreciate you all.
