Hello again from the POS world! I first want to thank as always everyone in the stores for what you do by keeping BurgerBusters a successful business. I also want to thank Tassos and the VPs for their continued support in keeping us well equipped to deal with any issues that the POS Department may face.
With the mandates from Corporate, remodels, and new builds we have continued to evolve and roll with the punches from supply chain issues. Some items are still taking a month or more to get so we can either replace or repair them. Please make sure that any issues that arise in your stores are communicated to SOS Taco and if they do not resolve the issue or it is a repeat problem, then please call the POS Department as soon as possible. We do not want you to have to wait longer than needed to get the issue resolved.
We have started to see more “new” technology coming to the stores. The Touch Kitchen Display System (TKDS) has been installed in the majority of the stores as of writing this article. We are still waiting for YUM to release for the multi-brand stores. With this system, please note where the installers placed the Smart Hubs and the power cables for the screens. If you have any questions on these locations of equipment, please call POS as a little bit of knowledge on these will help everyone in the long run. Also please make sure everyone has done the learning zone for TKDS as this will answer most of your questions.
Another “new” piece of equipment stores have already been receiving are the Interior Digital Menu Boards (IDMB) and Outside Digital Menu Boards (ODMB). All stores will eventually get both. The IDMBs are having a major supply chain issue. All stores will eventually get them, but it is taking longer than expected to get parts. The ODMBs are only going in new stores that were built this year and going forward. ODMBs are supposed to be going in existing stores hopefully sometime next year.

Another piece of equipment you will see going forward is the new registers that PAR has released this past summer to Taco Bell. The PAR 600 has a smaller, sleeker design compared to the older ones. All new builds and remodels started to receive these this past summer. The PAR 600s and the PAR 8300s will be compatible with the Next Generation Software that YUM has started testing earlier this year. We hope to get an answer soon on when we will be able to implement new registers for the rest of the stores.
