BurgerBusters growth has gone from great to amazing. Every six months this newsletter gives me a chance to take a breath and reflect on the sheer number of projects we have completed or started in such a short period of time.

The development process to build a new store, remodel an operating business, or add on a walk-in cooler is long and complicated. Starting with site plans, then building plans, and permits to ultimately complete construction can take years to accomplish. One of the top priorities of the Development Team going forward is to ensure we also do a great job on following up after we turn a building over to Operations. We have a newly implemented rigorous punch list at 14 days and at 11 months for all projects. This helps everyone keep our new and remodeled stores looking and running great while utilizing the warranties as long as possible.

I am proud to say that since the last newsletter we have successfully opened three new Taco Bells, Unit No. 32538 – Hilltop Plaza – Spotsylvania, VA; Unit No.  34779 – Staples Mill – Henrico, VA; and Unit No. 34782 – Midlothian Wegmans, in Midlothian, VA. We have three more restaurants well under construction currently, in Orange, VA; Tuckahoe, VA; and finally a store at the Oceanfront in Virginia Beach, VA. Additionally, we are currently converting two of our existing Steak ‘n Shake restaurants into new Taco Bells in Lynchburg, VA and Waynesboro, VA. We have a major project well under way in Hampton, VA where we have scraped the very high-volume Unit No. 33518 Coliseum restaurant on Mercury Boulevard to be replaced by a brand new BurgerBusters restaurant opening very soon.

As we all know, Nick Ballas retired after many great years at BurgerBusters. Stepping into his position is John Murray, who for the past 10 years has been in the Payroll Department of BurgerBusters and is now the Construction Manager for Coolers / Special Projects. He is a great addition to my team, as John comes from a background of movie theatres, restaurants, and construction. Debbie Baker is a new addition to the Development Team as the Coordinator of Construction, joining us in July. She comes with extensive experience in the construction world as she owned her own Concrete Company for eight years and has been in an office management role for over thirty years. John and Debbie join Albert Falk, New Build Manager, and Joe Kaut, Remodel Manager, as assets to the Development Team.
