It has been a very exciting period of growth and development since our last newsletter. In the past six months, the Williamsburg based Development group has added a new Construction Manager for Remodels and Special Projects to our team.  Joe Kaut joins Nick, Albert, and myself to keep the unprecedented growth of BurgerBusters growing faster than any other franchise at Taco Bell. Joe started in the commercial construction field in 1990 as an electrician’s apprentice in Philadelphia and by 2012 had worked his way up to building a variety of restaurant projects including Starbucks, Pizza Hut, and Blaze Pizza. Also joining us is Tracy Hammerstein as the new Coordinator of Development. After college, Tracy spent over ten years working in the construction industry in various project management and accounting administrative roles.

I am very proud to say that since the last newsletter we have opened four very successful new Taco Bells (Unit No. 32171 Yorktown, VA; Unit No. 33186 Advance, NC; Unit No. 33491 Quinton, VA;  and Unit No. 32164 Chesapeake, VA). We also have two units nearing completion (Unit No. 32538 Virginia Beach, VA and Unit No. 33109 Inwood, WV). Additionally, we are poised to begin construction in March on two new restaurants in very busy trade areas of Richmond, VA.

On the remodel front we continue to upgrade restaurants with beautiful new looks inside and out.  Complete successful over hauls of every square inch of the units at a cost of about $500,000. Remodeled restaurants include Unit No. 403, Unit No. 4794, and Unit No. 15627 in Greensboro, NC as well as Unit No. 17200 and Unit No. 17779 in Charlottesville, VA.

BurgerBusters continues to lead Taco Bell with BOH remodels adding additional coolers, freezers, and dry storage. We have added an unprecedented number of exterior walk-ins including Unit No. 18404 Richmond, VA; Unit No. 16062 Culpeper, VA; Unit No. 15857 Midlothian, VA; Unit No. 15854 Glen Allen, VA; and Unit No. 21151 Gainesville, VA. In addition, a full  exterior cooler and new corral in Unit No.19010 Charles Town, WV.

On behalf of the Development Team, I would like to thank everyone reading this newsletter for your support in keeping so many projects moving.  It is the people behind the scenes in the Virginia Beach office and in the restaurants that continue to make my team so successful.
